John was born and raised in Colorado, USA. The family farm was called Hillcroft Acres . John grew up riding hunters, jumpers and equitation through his junior years. He began his professional career at 18 and has never looked back.

 

John had the opportunity to ride with George Dawson, Jimmy Lee, Bernie Traurig, Rodney Jenkins as well as attend clinics featuring George Morris, Conrad Holmfield and many other top professionals. In 1986, his first year as a professional, John had won 19 ribbons in Grand Prix competitions and was qualified for the American Grand Prix (AGA) Championships.

 

In 1987, John showed on the east coast and was in the top 10 AGA horses and rider point standings. He qualified for the World Cup in Paris and earned 7th place. Additionally from 1997-2000 John was a top 10 contender in the mass Cup Finals.

 

John has continued to show and win more than 30 Grand Prix’s in his career to date. His horses and students have competed successfully at all levels. He currently resides in Lemitar, NM with his wife and two children with plans to compete in many shows throughout the United States.
