U.S. Storms to Nations Cup Win at CSIO Buenos Aires

The U.S. show jumping team put in an impressive effort to win the Nations Cup at CSIO Buenes Aires in Argentina. The Canadian and Argentine teams finished second and third respectively

Four U.S. Show Jumping riders travelled to CSIO Buenos Aires in Argentina, and their trip proved worth the miles when they scored a big win in today's Nations Cup. Led by the four fault efforts of Young Rider Lucy Davis (Los Angeles, Calif.) and John McConnell (Lemitar, N.M.), the U.S. Team put in an impressive effort to jump to the win on 24 faults over the Canadians who finished on 37. The home nation was third on a score of 43.

Megan Edrick (Ocala, Fla.) and Cadence jumped a four-fault round in their first attempt over Javier Hernandez' course and picked up 12 faults in the second round. McConell jumped a confident clear in the first round with Katie Riddle and then had four faults in round two. Davis, 18, and Nemo 119, also finished on four faults, but her clear effort came in the second round.

Saer Coulter (San Francisco, Calif.), another Young Rider at 19-years-old, had eight faults in the first round with Chalan. In this Nations Cup, only three riders from each team returned for the second round. Davis and Coulter have a history of winning together; they were also teammates on the Gold medal-winning team in the Young Rider Championships at the 2010 Adequan FEI North American Junior/Young Rider Championship presented by Gotham North where they rode for Zone 10.

There were only four clear rounds within the time allowed in the entire Nations Cup and two of them belonged to the U.S. Team, who were riding under the expertise of Chef d'Equipe Michelle Grubb.
